Hey,

I was so used to F9, F10, and F11 being the keys for Expose on my Macbook, but now I keep mixing it up since I need to use fn+F9 (or + F10/F11) for it since the keys alone just control the keyboard backlight. Is there any way I can switch it so fn+F9 would control the backlight, and just plain F9 would be for Expose??

Thanks

under the mouse and keyboard preference pane in the system preferences, you want to check the box that reads, "use all f1, f2, etc. keys as standard function keys." check image below.

I tried that, which allows me to use the keys for Expose, but I can no longer used F1-F5 for brightness and sound, which I want to. Is there any way I could customize this?

Yes, just use fn+F1 (etc.) if you ticked the option siurpeeman pointed out.

You could disable that, and use Cmd-F9 for Expose and the F-keys for their hardware purposes, but you can't use F9 as a software key and F1-5 for their hardware functions without some serious work (hacking the keyboard driver)
