mbp external display res capability?

I have an Oct 2008 MBP with the 512 vid card. I run the LED cinema display at the office but want a cheap monitor for home.

My questions are:
-Will my machine be able to drive a 2048 x 1152 monitor?
-If so, will the regular minidisplayport->dvi converter suffice?


If it helps, the monitor I am thinking of is Samsung 2343BWX.
