MBP external screen issues

My mbp 2.2 ghz stock is acting weird with an external monitor. If I boot up with the monitor connected, the color is fine. If I disconnect it and reconnect it later, the colors are all washed out. Any idea how to fix this? This is in OSX 10.4.10. Thanks.

Also, i can't get full resolution in bootcamp.
