My 15" MBP bought 2 yrs ago fails to boot. It crashed during normal use and since will not restart - well almost.
This is what happens: press the power button, light on front illuminates, hard disk spins up, stays spinning, hard disk then clicks and the whole computer powers off. the dispay does not illuminate, the cd drive does not load. the whole affair lasts about 6 seconds.
the strangest part is that within probably 100 attempts to restart it has restarted 3 times and all my information seems to be intact. I can use my computer as usual, until it inevitably crashes again.
since having the problem i've replaced my hard drive. I still have the same problem. The computer still makes the same sound and will not restart.
Battery charge is fine, IO board OK, power button functioning, blah blah blah. I'm pretty close to tossing this computer out the window. I know...I didn't buy the apple care (because I thought apple made reliable computers).
Any suggestions?
