MBP Fan Won't Shut Off

I start up the computer and the fan turns on instantly, and then just won't shut off. Even when I have absolutely nothing running, it still run!

Any ideas?

It's a 2.16 GHz MBP Core Duo!

The fans are suppose to be running the whole time.

Is your complaint that the fans are on or that the fans are too loud?

The fan is designed to keep your MacBook cool, and so yes, it's going to be on most of the time.

It should be spinning at 2000rpm always. That's whisper quiet. If your issue is something else, it's an issue. Otherwise, it's not

Download iStat and tell us your core temp and fan speeds.

Shut off fan = burned out processor (unless of course the processor has a failsafe built in which I think all do nowadays)
