MBP for iOS Development

Going to be picking up most likely a MBP 15 or 17 for iOS Development.

I currently use a 2011 Mac Mini with 8 gig memory ($799 model) and it does well.

I am reaaaaaaallllllly tempted by the MBA but do not like the fact I cannot replace drive/memory (old timer, I know).

Any developers using the 17" MBP ?

Is it way too big ?


I played with it at the Apple store but hard to tell.

Have you used it on an airplane (I only travel 4 times / year, so that is not a big deal)

Any feedback welcome.

college student with the 17" MBP. I carry it into class. It's about the same size as a 16" windows laptop, and it's thinner. The extra screen real estate can make a world of a difference.

Same boat, Loove my 17. I'm a big dude though. YMMV.

I use my MBA 11" about 90% of the time over my MBP 17". I usually use Xcode 4 and Safari. I don't develop for the iPad, so the MBA 11" has been fine.

I think if my MBP 17 had an SSD, then I would use it more often though.
