Hi,

I have just come across this ad for a used MBP Retina. I am not really in the market for a new one but I browse the local websites (in China) from time to time and found this one, and the picture of the sticker on the box looks wrong.
Does it really say 'Flach Storage' on the box instead of SSD / Solid State Drive or Flash Storage ?
Just curious.

Edit: just noticed that I accidentally posted this in the 'Air' section, not 'Pro' - can a mod move it please? Thank you.

type the serial number in here... https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do if it pulls up then its in Apple's system.

What's this sticker even from though? I don't recall having ever seen such a sticker when buying MacBooks. Maybe it's on the outer shrink wrap that I just tore off and ignored. They definitely don't put it on their nicely designed minimalist cardboard box.

If it's a sticker printed from e.g. a 3rd party inventory system then it doesn't surprise me at all if there are typos or some information is missing.

Those labels are on every Mac box. The typos and the invalid Bluetooth address are pretty solid indicators that this is a fake.

MBP for sale - fake box?

For the record, yes, it does say "flash storage" instead of ssd on a genuine MacBook Pro box.

Now, the missing Bluetooth ID and spelling errors are another issue all together.

every mac has them.

Thanks for the replies, it never ceases to amaze me what can be fake in this country :)

Just as a warning for potential buyers, here is the very doubtful ad:
http://enjoyshanghai.com/buy-sell/computers/macbook-pro-retina-15_299851.htm

(when the box is fake, I dread to think what else could be fake/wrong with it!)

If you want it, just try to do a thorough job of testing it out before committing to buying.

I would say probably most of the computer/tablet/phone sales on Craigslist are just for the device and charger, and sometimes not even the charger. Getting any box at all with something would be a luxury. :)

Could be perfectly legit apple manufactured rMBP albeit stolen/fallen off the back of a lorry. In which case fake label with a completely different (legit) serial number would make certain amount of sense from a dodgy sellers pov.
