Hi,
I have a MBP 17" with 2GB RAM and Leopard installed. Ever since I bought it in April 2007 whenever I play video files (mostly .avi and .mkv's) through VLC or Mplayer for OS X in full screen the computer freezes and the sounds stutters. Sometime closing the lid to make it sleep works but most of the time the only option is to hit the power button until it's turned off and restart - something which obviously is not good for the HD in the long run.
One would think 2GB RAM would be sufficient but obviously there's something wrong here - either with VLC or with the graphics card. THe problem occurred in Tiger too.
Does someone know what causes this? Should I take it in for repair?
Many thanks.
Nubben
