MBP Gets Very Hot !

Hey guys i just got hold of an older 2.33Ghz Non Unibody 17" MBP 2GB RAM. after using it for some heavy stuff like DJ software running and mixing multiple songs it is very hot to the touch and seems to go slow/less responsive. Is this a normal issue with macs ? my only other pc is a i7 desktop which does everything with ease so im not sure what to expect from it, also when typing it might freese a little then suddenly type out everything i was typing like my old iphone 3g used to do sometimes.

Thanks if anyone can shed some light, as its a 3 year old PC i assume its just age / older tech limitations.

thanks i just installed i stat, as for the search, a good 90% of those didnt apply to the question as they are about i series macs

edit: after checking i stat pro the CPU idles at 60 degrees C

You didn't read them, then, as most of them were posted before the i series was released, and that was only a sampling of the many dozens of threads on temps. All MBPs run hot, regardless of the model.
