I'm curious...

I picked up a 15" i7 HR-AG from an Apple store yesterday and immediately replaced the 5400rpm hard drive with a Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500gb hard drive (ST905003N3A1AS-RK)--a 7200 rpm drive with 16mb cache.

So I'm now wondering how does this compare to the stock apple 500gb 7200rpm drive? And exactly what model hard drive is that anyway? Who wants to help me answer this? :)

First question is what's the best way to benchmark only the hard drive?
Second question is who has an i7 custom order they bought with a 500gb 7200pm drive that wants to post their results from the former benchmark?

In the June '09 MacBook Pros Apple was installing that very same drive in CTO 500GB 7200RPM configurations. If they are still using that drive in the new models, and I have reason to suspect that they are, the performance should be identical to that which you are getting.
