This is driving me crazy,

I can constantly hear my hard drive making noise. It sounds like it is processing data, it makes click noises like a bad PC does when it has too much work to do.

It isn't amazingly loud, but I can hear it when I'm in my room doing work and everything is silent.

Does anybody know what would cause this sound?

I mean, it makes the processing data noise even when my computer is idle. It only started doing this a few weeks ago. I bought my MBP in the middle of august, it was perfect until this noise came along. And yes, I am running Leopard.

A clicking noise from a hard drive, especially a new clicking noise, is always a bad thing, usually means hard drive failure is imminent.

I'd make sure you have it backed up (while you still can), then I'd run a Level 1 diagnostic on it, with Disk Utility at the least, and Disk Warrior optimally.

System Preferences > Energy Saver > uncheck "put hard disks to sleep when possible"

if it still makes noise then have it looked at.
