So my MBP (3,1 - Mid 2007) hard drive is giving the slow spins of delay and death so I'm aiming to replace it soon (second time in 4 years - from stock HD to Hitachi Deskstar 320gb 7200rpm). Any advice on these options?
1. OCZ Vertex 2 120gb SSD: Seems good but reading some issues. ~$200
2. Intel X25-M 120gb SSD: Priciest but seems like the most 'reliable' ~$230
3. Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid 500gb: Best price + performance but seems like a hit-or-miss with some of the FW issues. ~$110
4. WD Scorpio Black 500gb: Best standard replacement though it seems like a replacement vs. upgrade. ~$70
So far I'm leaning towards #2 but may wait out for either resolution on Seagate's FW issues with Mac's or the new generation of Intel SSD's to see if there's any price drops.
Any advice?
