I'm planning on getting a new MBP when they come out, and I'm assuming for the time being that it'll be updated with a penryn and a MBA'ish touchpad. However I just replaced my current MBPs 160GB HDD with the WD Scorpio 320GB HDD and I can't imagine downgrading to anything with any less space.
My question is this: would there be any issue with simply swapping the harddrives?
My guess is that there would be some issues due to the differing firmware for the touchpad/penryn. Normally I would probably just wipe the drive and reinstall and restore via time machine, but I have a windows partition that I'd like to keep intact (when will Rhinoceros finally come out for mac?!). Also, the idea of losing a day to install leopard, restore time machine, reinstall windows, and reinstall a handful of windows programs does not get me excited.
is it possible to install the drive and then reinstall osx with the installer disks that came with the MBP?
Is there any other way to migrate the same drive to another computer?
thanks in advance!
