I have my MBP hooked up to a new sony LCD tv. I can use the TV as a monitor fine.

But when I play movies on Mac's dvd player (and front row), I can't get the movies to take up the full screen of the tv. I know the some movies will have black bars on top and bottom to make up for the aspect ration, but it seems like these bars are way too thick for the tv.

Is there some setting I've missed? Some way to make the dvd player recognize the aspect ratio? Or better way to get the mac to use the full screen of the tv?

Thanks!

Drop DVD Player and download VLC. Not only does it play almost anything, but it gives you much better control over how your video displays (i.e., adjust or crop the picture to get the aspect ratio you want).

Have you tried changing the overscan/underscan of the TV?
