I'll be going on a trip with my MacBook Pro, and I don't want to have any internet access (not connecting to any wi-fi networks),

So how do I disable (temporarily) the internet?
Do I just go to the airport icon in the menu bar and go to "Turn Airport Off" ? would it still detect other networks? (just not connect to them)
Would that also disable internet access to my Windows 7 Virtual Machine (through Parallels 5)

Thanks!

"Turn airport off" will physically cut the power going to part of the radio chip, which will completely disable the wifi. (and give you a tiny bit better battery life also)

You'll also want to turn off bluetooth, the IR reciever, and not plug in any network cables if you want to keep your machine isolated from all other machines.

As a question, why do you want to prevent the machine from going online?
