I've been reading many posts in this forum as well as other forums regarding this, I guess, common upgrade. However, I'm not completely sure what is the best solution.
1. I can see in my system report that I have a SATA link speed of 3 Gigabit and a negotiated link speed of 1.5 Gigabit. All of the fast SSD drives for instance the Samsung EVO 850 got 6 Gigabit transfer speed (SATA III speed as far as I understand). I have then seen many users having problems installing these new SSD's in the optical deck location after removing the DVD drive. My own idea is to purchase to SDD's, same size, and then mirror them - is this possible on my MBP and is it necessary with SSD drives? My 500GB Seagate Momentus 5400rpm built in drive just died so I like to find a solution which provide better data protection in case this gonna happen again futurewise.
2. If it is possible to mirror the disk having better security if my main drive fails then what SDD's would offer the most reliable solution? Is it SATA I, II or III drives I have to purchase?
3. Atm. I'm looking at this product:
https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Mac/Unibody-Laptop-Dual-Drive/IF107-080-3
but I'm not sure if it it the right product, does anybody have any experience with this product?
The reason why I'm not secure is because I do not know if I need a solution with a fan to cool the drive.
In advance thanks for any comments!
