Hello. I am looking to pick up a second hand MBP for music production using Pro Tools and just wanted to ask a question about the potential difference in performance between two options.

I am looking at either a Mid-2014 15" i7 2.2 or a Late-2013 15" i7 2.6. Both have 16GB of ram and are in equally good condition but I can get the Mid-2014 for a bit less over the 2013 model.

My question is, will I see a noticable performance difference between the two processors? The 2013 has the higher spec but is a year older and I'm not sure if that make a difference? I use a lot of virtual instruments within Pro Tools which are processor heavy so I would benefit from more power but if it will only be marginal I would much prefer to save some money and purchase the 2014 model.

I used to own a Late-2012 Mac Mini i7 2.3 w/ 16GB of ram and it ran really well. If the Mid-2014 MBP can match or exceed that I'd be very happy but if there will be a noticeable difference opting for the Late-2013 MBP with the higher spec I'll get that. Funds are tight so I'm basically just trying to get the best with what I can afford and saving some money would be ideal but not essential in this case if a better performance is achievable.

Thanks so much for your help.
