MBP Internal Optical Drive Enclosure [Question]

I currently removed my optical drive (8x SuperDrive) in my mid 2010 MBP 15' i5 for additional HD space.
I still wish to use the optical drive via USB, FireWire, ect.
My question is:
1. Which "output" (USB, FireWire, ect) is best to "fully" optimize the optical drive?
2. Which optical drive enclosure is should I purchase?
- Preferably, I prefer the slimmest possible enclosure.
