MBP is on Wireless network but doesn't see Airport

Hello all,

I am trying to configure my father's MBP for him and I have run into an issue. While setting up the printer, we could not find it. Our other 2 iMacs are connected to this printer wirelessly. The printer is connected by ethernet to our Airport Base Station. When I went into the airport utility, it does not show our Airport Base Station, but we are connected to the network wirelessly. Does anybody know how we are connected to the network, but cannot see the base station?
