Hi,

I've googled and searched here and on discussion.apple... and couldn't find the answer, so finally writing. Hopefully, someone can help.

For my MBP of late 2008 with nvidia 9400M and 9600M GT I've recently bought the external monitor - NEC PA271W and tried to connect it. Native screen resolution is 2560x1440, the display has dual-link DVI-D and Displayport inputs.

The problem is that it's detected only when I use 9400M GPU (which is obviously not a great solution as the card is slower and this is especially obvious when working with a big screen, moreover there's a known native screen flicker issue that appeared with Snow Leopard and is still there with Lion). Apparently I'd like to use my 9600M GT, but when it's turned on the system doesn't detect the external monitor!

And not that simple! I would already bring the notebook to service to check the connectivity, but the screen IS detected with 9600M GT when I use mini displayport to single-link DVI adapter. It sets up maximum resolution of 1920x1080 (fair enough) but works!
When I use dual-link DVI adapter or mini displayport to displayport cable (the preferred connectivity in the end), my MBP screen reloads when the external monitor is switched on, but not seen in any screen preferences and the monitor itself shows NO SIGNAL message.

Did someone come across this problem or similar?

Thanks in advance,
Ivan.
