Hi

Hoping someone can shed some light on this.

My MBP late 2011 is having startup issues.

Sometimes it chimes sometimes not.

When it does chime it gets to a white lined screen with apple logo , start up bar gets about half way, then it either freezes or goes blank, attached image will help explain.

I have tried reseting SMC ( Has worked a few times but now failing )

Also tried a PRAM reset ( Again did start a few times but now fails )

Recently if I keep trying it eventually comes to life, but last night it just wouldn't start and threw up a different bright blue screen with vertical lines.

Hoping this is a hardware issue I can possibly sort out.

Here's model info model details.jpg

Got everything crossed : )

GPU is failing, which is a common occurrence, there's not much you can do with it, and given the age, I'd look to replacing it.

Thanks for your reply

How sad is that, it still flies along. :(
Its a design flaw that basically meant that the GPU was going to fail at some point. Apple had a repair program but that ended last december.

With that said, the repair program only replaced the bad logic board with a repaired logic board so the inherent problem remained and it would be a matter of time when that repaired laptop failed again. I say this, so you don't feel bad that you missed the deadline for getting it fixed.
