Hi, I've got a TB 13" MBP with i5 and 16GB RAM and looking to replace it with a 20 i7 MBA w/ 16GB ram. According to Geekbench the Air will be much quicker (almost double on multicore) so am I right in thinking it'll handle most of my workload quicker. Its mainly emails etc which aren't going to change, but there will be some 4k video editing (hobby, not serious - MTB vids) and the occasional Windows VM usage.

Am I making the right move?

Thanks

I had a 2017 3.5Ghz i7 dual core (7th Gen) MBP with 16Gb Ram ... and replaced it at the end of June with a 2020 MBA i7 quad core 16Gb Ram (quicker Ram than the MBP).

FWIW using Lightroom for photos and other bits I just find it feels noticeably slower than my MBP ! Geekbench indicates it should be quite a bit swifter but in reality I have been disappointed with the performance compared to the older machine.

The one thing I would say is that I no longer have burnt thighs from the heat of the MBP. The 2020 MBA is at most warm in use. The MBP's heat issues was my main reason for getting the MBA.
