I Just bought a LG 34" Ultrawide (34WK500) Display to use with my MBP 14,3 running High Sierra 10.13.6.
When I plugged the display in I was unable to change to the recommended resolution (2560x1080@60Hz) through System Preffs > Display.
After looking around for a solution, I was able to install SwitchResX, make the necessary changes to system files/add 2560x1080 to SwitchResX and the monitor is working fine in 2560x1080@59Hz (doesn't seem to like 60Hz, but 59 works fine).
I have also tried the terminal command "sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist DisplayResolutionEnabled -bool true"
Also tried option + click on scaled in display.
Ideally someone here will be able to help get this working without SwitchResX, so I don't have to pay to get this working properly.
The display only has 2 HDMI inputs, and I have the HDMI cable connected to the laptop via USBC hub with a HDMI port.
Thanks in advance!
