My 15 inch Macbook pro ME294B/A won't boot past the loading bar start screen, it just hangs at 2/3 progress.

Things i've tried.

- Installed new fans and thermal paste (I thought it was overheating).
- Tried new SSD.
- Tried install clean version of OSX but the install just hangs.
- Can get into disk utilities but can do much as machine hangs.
- Cleared PRAM/NVRAM.
- Tried to boot to external disk.

Any other options out there ??

Reboot while holding down Command-V. That will start things up in verbose mode, which should hopefully give you some clues about what is happening when it gets stuck.

When you say it hangs, how long do you let it grind? Are we talking a minute, or an hour?

It hangs 15-20 mins, that should be plenty of time ?

I will try CMD+V

Yeah, you’re right, it sounds like a real hang. Sometimes folks get impatient.
