MBP mid 2010 2.66 Harddrive

Dear All,

I have a MBP mid 2010 2.66 with a 320 hitachi harddrive (factory one) It will no longer boot in to OSX 10.9. It will soley launch recovery mode. I tried to use Disk Utility to erase the harddrive however I get the message that the drive cannot be deactivated. When I repair the hitachi it states the drive is fine, But when I try the the same for Macintosh HD it runs in to errors. has anyone ever had the same experience?

I think it will come down to replacing the harddrive and restoring my Time Machine backup.

Is your TM backup on a local USB disk? If it it plug it in and option key boot to the disk. That will get you to the recovery partition on the backup disk. From there try using Disk Utiil to fix/erase the internal.

Looks like your OS is broken and cannot boot.
You can try to reinstall the OS with that recovery OS. It will install OS without erasing your stuff.
