How much will I gain by going to the I5 or I7 MBP.s?
I mainly use PS CS and create slide shows using Pro show gold on boot camp.

Is the I7 worth the upgrade over the I5?
I would get the anti glare option so when you add that in plus the better video ram it seems that the 17" is the best deal,

any thoughts?

1) Not much
2) No

C2D->i5 in your situation, unless you are a pro and handle billions of files and the difference between ending work 5 seconds early and not is life or death, then you won't notice the difference, or at least be able to take advantage of it.

i7 over i5 isn't really worth it, you will probably sell your computer to buy a octo power-sipping i9 in three years before you even need to use 512 mb of video card. It just dosen't seem as cost effective unless you really wanna play some crysis at full quality.. all the time..

But it's not just C2Dvs i5 it's 13" vs 15", first pick a form factor then a processor.

I am surprised you say there wont be much difference between the C2d and the I5..
I also use my MBP to drive a 30" apple cinema. Right now I am having problems editing pictures using Iphoto 2008 on the bigger screen. No problem with PS though.

I guess there is no rush to update.
