Strangest situation and I am trying to figure out what is wrong..
I have an optical audio cable from mono price for use with my Airport Express and iPod HiFi, and it worked fine for a number of months until I rearranged some things/installed a cinema display. Now, unless the cable is plugged in rather firmly and I hold it there, there is crackling and popping coming from the speakers via AirPlay.
I thought the cable was the problem, and tried plugging it in to my MBP directly to the HiFi with the toslink cable, and that doesn't work AT ALL. My sysprefs changes to digital out, but no sound! The light is on in the cable, however.
Plug cable from AE to HiFi and we are in business again.
Why won't it work with my MBP directly? Anything I may have done?
