Hello all penryn owners,

Recently I faced some responsiveness issues with my 2 weeks old Penryn MBP 2.4Ghz. After a little investigation, I found out what looks like a pretty low level issue with recent Penryn MBPs and MBAs.
At several occasions, my MBP will hang or stutter for a few seconds, and recover from that hang by itself. I looked at /var/log/system.log and found a lot of errors like these:

Code:
Feb 17 11:18:31: --- last message repeated 3557 times ---
Feb 17 11:18:31 Oddjob /usr/libexec/hidd[25]: IOHIDEventQueueEnqueue: Error enqueuing memory. (0xe00002e8)
Feb 17 11:19:01: --- last message repeated 2522 times ---
Feb 17 11:19:01 Oddjob /usr/libexec/hidd[25]: IOHIDEventQueueEnqueue: Error enqueuing memory. (0xe00002e8)
Feb 17 11:19:31: --- last message repeated 4814 times ---
Feb 17 11:19:31 Oddjob /usr/libexec/hidd[25]: IOHIDEventQueueEnqueue: Error enqueuing memory. (0xe00002e8)
Feb 17 11:20:01: --- last message repeated 5942 times ---
Feb 17 11:20:01 Oddjob /usr/libexec/hidd[25]: IOHIDEventQueueEnqueue: Error enqueuing memory. (0xe00002e8)

It seems like others are having this problem: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1463519&tstart=0

and other MBA owners: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6927977

Another issue might be related to those hangs is the following error message from the system log as well:
Code:
Sep 30 00:32:49 Computer-van-William kernel[0]: IOAudioStream[0x2b83100]::clipIfNecessary() - Error: attempting to clip to a position more than one buffer ahead of last clip position (68,2938)->(75,10cc).
Sep 30 00:32:49 Computer-van-William kernel[0]: IOAudioStream[0x2b83100]::clipIfNecessary() - adjusting clipped position to (74,2938)

Can Penryn MBP owners check their /var/log/system.log file for these messages?
What might look like a HD seek overhead and momentary unresponsivness might be this problem and should be taken care of by Apple.
I had a MB 2.0Ghz before the Penryn and it never had any hangs (not even 1sec. hangs)

Let's find out together what's going on...

I get it after the machine awakes from sleep mode if I have parallels running. The machine is unusable at this point and I have to restart. I've seen other forum posts where people have similar problems without parallels, but it seems that more often than not it's resuming from sleep mode.

Has anyone solved this yet? I am still having this problem... it happens perhaps 3 times a day.

At the worst the machine can completely freeze up and it requires a hard reset, however if I notice when its frozen and stop clicking stuff, it usually free's up and continues working...

Code:
7/07/08 11:08:52 PM /usr/libexec/hidd[28] IOHIDEventQueueEnqueue: Error enqueuing memory. (0xe00002e8)
< about 300 more of these messages snipped out of here >
7/07/08 11:09:43 PM /usr/libexec/hidd[28] IOHIDEventQueueEnqueue: Error enqueuing memory. (0xe00002e8)

It's interesting that it's the same code 0x00002e8. I don't know what that means but it must be something common between all the MBP's....

I can't see these errors when browsing system.log using Console.. perhaps they are in another log. They do show up under "All Messages" in Console though.

Hoping for a solution....

Running 10.5.4 by the way... all up to date, still doing this regularly. I did have Parallels installed at one point, but it has been completely removed - I have been through everything and followed their guide to remove it! For a while there were some lingering components.

Cheers,

Paul.

I used to get this problem from time to time. I got my MBP May 2008.
This usually happens when I sleep my computer for a few weeks and if I tax my system (I.e lightroom, fusion). I turned up my fan speed and haven't had a problem since but its only been a couple weeks. We'll see what happens.

I'll also post my error logs as I have saved those once I get home.

crash or freeze (just to be technically right)

Not a heat problem

I have tried to put heavy load on my GPU for several hours, unable to get i higher then 72 deg C but the computer was running just as stable as normal. if it is a NVidia problem is it the numbers of cold-heat cycles of the GPU that are numbered. I'm still hoping that it is a problem with the drivers etc so the problem can be fixed without repair/change of main board.
