MBP penryn LCD: Purchase a replacement based on the mfr p/n?

So I busted my LCD by closing it on a pen. I removed the rear housing and noted the part number of my current screen. I don't want to sound stupid, but couldn't I just locate a replacement based on this information rather than the apple p/n? I ask because I find more locations selling this model by the mfr p/n. I'm just not sure if apple adds essential pieces to their official replacement parts so it will fit correctly.

It's hard to find the mfr p/n on Ebay and such, best is to look up "penryn macbook pro lcd" or variations of that.

You'll have to make sure it's a LED backlit LCD as the screens aren't interchangeable.
