Hi everyone,
I have a macbook pro that was in pretty bad shape when I got it. Mainly, the display did not function correctly (it would work some of the time or leave little artifacts, especially when it got hot). Also the computer did not recognize its airport card any longer. I ran an AHT and it said the video ram had failed. I just replaced the logic board hoping that would bring it back to life. but no dice, just hear the hard drive. i replaced the left I/O board AND flex cable thinking that may be the issue since I had noticed airport card issue. I close up the computer, turn it on and again... nothing. Well, I hear the whirring of the hard drive spinning, but no lights, no display, no sounds as if my logic board were receiving any power.
I took it apart again to take a closer look at the connections and everything seemed normal. Is it possible for a cable to go bad without showing any noticeable signs of degradation? possibly the multi-colored cable leading from the left i/o board to both the battery terminal and the logic board?
Does anyone have any other ideas? I would appreciate it greatly... there's nothing as fun as tearing the guts out of a laptop and replacing them 3 or 4 times... sigh. If only it were an Inspiron, I'd have drop kicked it days ago.
Thanks for reading.
