Hello.

I have a 2011 17'' MBP, and so far i've been always extra careful with it. Never dropped anything and not even a bump. But today i dropped my power adaptor. :/

The hight was about a meter (a bit more than 3feet) and the ground was ceramic floor. It bounced a couple of times on the floor. The brick dropped on one corner (in the area where it connects the power cord) and made a "dent". More of a compressed plastic than a dent.

It seems that it's working alright. It's charging without overheating. But i'm pretty afraid of using it now.

Do you guys think that, if it's damaged, it could damage my computer? That's what i'm afraid of.

Does anyone has any experience with dropping Power adaptors? :)

It's cosmetic only don't worry about it to damage the board inside the plastic would have to be damaged considerably. Don't worry about it

I have dropped mine many times, and it still works without any issue. I wouldn't worry about it.

It's a charger, dude. Yours looks better than most who lug it around constantly. They have scratches, scuffs and et cetera. And if you're that neurotic about it, you can always buy a new one.

Thank you for the inputs guys… :) So far it charged my MBP normally, so i guess it should be fine.

Patrick, my "problem" is not with the charger itself. What i was affraid was that the charger could be damaged and damage my computer. :) Due to some background situations that happened in my household in the past, i have the complete and utter respect for electricity. :)

Take your respect for electricity one step further by taking time to learn as to why you should not be worried about your charger not being damaged by a drop :)

There are some pretty basic components inside the charger converting AC to DC electricity, a small transformer and rectifiers and some power electronics are in there. The only way to damage it is to cut it in half or get it wet. Just try not to drop it again.
