MBP Pro 2008 Optical Cable has red dot

My late-2008 MBP 15-inch's optical cable (the one directly adjacent to the optical drive, under the left fan) has a red dot there. Is this one of the liquid submersion sensors?
 
Can you post a pic? I wouldn't think they would put a sensor on a cable.
