I need to buy a laptop in the next two weeks and have been waiting for the C2D and with little hope in sight would it be wise to buy a CD now, sell it when the C2D comes out and buy a new laptop?

What, the ten thousand other threads weren't enough to answer your question? Buy when you need it and don't look back. It's far too much hassle to buy perfectly good notebook now, sell perfectly good notebook after slightly better notebook is released, buy new slightly better notebook and losing a few hundred in the process.

Do you really need to buy a laptop within the next 2 weeks? I doubt it since you are hemming and hawing. THe only people who REALLY need it are ones that use their machine for work or students.

And ask yourself this, do you REALLY need the extra bells and whistles that the new chip will offer? There's always something new around the corner...
people can adapt...

Yeah, if you are going to buy one, don't sell it when the updates come out unless it is significantly better. The rumors point to the fact that Apple is likely just going to drop the new processor more or less in the same setup. So if you buy, wait until there significantly upgrade the rest of the guts, like with new graphics, motherboards, etc. Its not worth the hit you'll take for just a marginal increased in power. By the time you can fully take advantage of the 64-bit, you will want/need a new computer anyway. Whatever you do, good luck and enjoy your new computer, whenever you obtain it.

Buy now. Don't sell it when C2D comes out. The C2D won't be a big improvement. As others have said, wait until they release new graphics cards and so on before getting rid of what you buy now.

Why not buy now, then sell two years later when something new comes out? In the mean time, save and enjoy your computer.
