So, my school is offering the the old base model MBP for a sweet $1499. 2.2ghz, 2gb ram, 120gb HD, etc.

My dilemma is, should I snag this deal, or dish out more money for the newer version?

I mean, are the newer ones REALLY worth it?

I'm not going to game that much at all, maybe video edit a tad, so I don't see the need to dish out the extra cash...what do you guys suggest?????

Just buy the old on and save your money, dont let the hype make you spend $500 extra, on a machine you dont need. also you might want to look at the refurb section at apple.com they have some pretty sweet deals there.

the beauty about this $1499 is that it's brand new, but I'm definitely leaning towards the older one. Whatever I decide to do with the MBP, I don't think it will tax the processor that much. Thanks for the input btw.

Based on this quote alone I say get the old one without a doubt. Thats a great deal too!

go with the savings... your student loan is growing!:D
seriously, you don't need the current.. even the SR MBP can do soooo much..

imagine this conversation..let's say 2 weeks ago.. you'll be buying the " current" 2.2 GHz SR MBP anyway
