Hi,

I have to mbp 3.1. For simplicity, assume this:

MBP-A: Working mbp (A1226)
MBP-B: 'Broken' mbp. (A1150)

MBP-B wont boot:
- Disk with osx yosemite does not boot (questionmark folder on boot)
- Booting in recovery mode does not work
- Option-Booting shows the disk, recovery disk, and my USB-key with mavericks installdisk on it, but selecting either option gives me the questionmark folder
- booting MBP-B from MBP-A in target mode does not work (?-folder)
- booting MBP-A from MBP-B in target mode DOES work

- Putting the hdd from MBP-B into MBP-A works, so the disk is not broken
- Putting the hdd from MBP-A into MBP-B does not work. Same questionmark folder.

Now the strange part: The disk from MBP-A has a windows partition on it. If i put this disk in MBP-B, first i get the folder icon. After a while he boots into windows. (this does not work if an usb-key is plugged in)

I did reset SMC and PRAM.

It could be a broken hard-disk cable. Does anyone knows if i can use the cable from MBP-A in MBP-B? The cable is a little different, so i guess that's not a good idea?

Can anybody help ?

Thanks!

Ben
