Can you upgrade the RAM and Hard Drive later?

The RAM is soldered in, so no. But the flash storage is replaceable. Only thing is nobody makes a replacement yet for the current models. Both OWC and Transcend have said they are woking on upgrades though.

They've been saying that for the past 2 years, I wouldn't hold my breath.

OP: Check ifixit.com if you want to know if a Mac is upgradable, you'll see the innard and be able to check for yourself easily.

You can find some flash storage modules on eBay.

Note, the flash is different for the 2012 (SATA) and the 2013/14 (PCIe) rMBPs.

The difficulty of upgrading/repairing a Retina MBP is its greatest shortcoming. Really, its only shortcoming.

Not quite that long, both have upgrades for the late 2012, early 2013 models (I put a Transcend 960GB upgrade in my rMBP only yesterday). It's only the model that was released a year ago that is still awaiting a solution.
