I've just noticed that my macbook pro screen has a small black discoloration in the top right hand corner of the screen. TBH it's not that noticeable but it is still annoying. See the picture below. Is there anyway to fix this or is a new screen the only way?

I have the exact same problem on my Santa Rosa MPB (late 2007).
I broght it to the nearest apple retailer and they ordered a new screen for me, so sometimes next week they are gonna swap it.
As far as i understood, swapping is the only solution.

I bought mine in April 2008. Are they going to charge you for the new screen?

No, it's covered by warranty.
I don't have apple care, but in Norway all computer hardware are covered by a 5 year warranty by defects (it's apparantly a manufacturing defect).

They told me that it was a pretty common defect on these models, and they exchanged quite a few screens every year.

Do you have a dark color there from your desktop picture.

Simi Transparent menu bar.

Hope this helps

would I have any chance of getting a free replacement screen?
