I'm using Dell U2311H with my early 2008 MBP (DVI output) and I've noticed that my MBP screen flickers when it's open (regardless whether it's mirroring or not). I'm using the native resolution and it's set to DVI on my external monitor.

What could be wrong?

Apparently some of the cables were not plugged into my monitor firmly enough - once I did that it apparently fixed the issue.

Glad you got it fixed. I just bought that monitor and the 13" MBP. Trying it out tomorrow! Are you happy with the setup overall?

Yeah, it's not bad... though I got annoyed with the "golden glare" and some tinting issues... But it's not that bad now...

Alright cool, I'm not going to be doing anything that requires accurate color or anything. Just needed screen real estate and found a good deal on it. It's an IPS panel so I thought I'd try it out. Looks good when I connected it to my 2007 Dell Latitude.
