MBP slow wake up after update

So i'm new to macs, and i bought a 2011 mbp laptop for school. After updating my mbp with...

itunes 10.5.2
Safari 5.1.2
Macbook pro EFI Firmware 2.3
MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update 1.5

i have noticed that my laptop will be extremely slow when waking up, taking a couple minutes at the login page to become responsive. I have already tried repairing disk permissions, and the same problem persists. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.
