My current MBP is lovely but everything is slowing down on it, the boot up/shut down time, program launches pretty much anything that is opened is slow to open/close. I can still run lots of programs simultaniously and have no problems with graphic heavy apps. so I have no idea what is causing the problem and wondered if the great and the good ;) might have an idea of what to do.

I no longer launch Skype/MSN/Yahoo at launch and only have growl, ichat and bluetooth running as always open apps in my top bar.

I was wondering if I need to defrag or something similar? My system is a 2.33 core 2 Duo with 2GB of Ram.

I was debating adding another 2GB (I know only 3GB will work) of Crucial memory, will that actually have a big impact?

Thanks
