When watching a 720p video on Youtube, my Mac jumps to like 50-60% CPU usage. The frame rate slows and is almost unbearable to watch.

I have also noticed that if I leave my MBP on for like >3 days then sooner or later my computer will get really sluggish and unresponsive. I end up having to restart because the CPU is going so insanely high.

Okay, as I write this, I am having huge CPU jumps while doing nothing but typing this. Yes, Youtube is open in another window, but still....

Any ideas? I thought I could leave my computer on for weeks without problems....but anyway I restarted today and still have this Youtube problem.

Apparently I may have a virus!?

No idea what this process is...

Thanks.

YouTube is still using 50-60& CPU. Is this normal?

Youtube is flash based and thus uses huge amounts of cpu power especially if you are playing hd video. I know that on my little atom 1.6 ghz netbook I cant play any youtube videos in hq let alone hd

I thought Youtube just switched to HTML5?

I am streaming an audio file... no video... and my Mac is at 172 degrees and 100% CPU usage by Safari.

Yes but the video is running slow... I have yet to find a video on Youtube that didn't stutter somewhere in the video. Something has to be wrong with my computer...

I have also noticed sluggish performance with my Mac in general... Like I said, sometimes the computer will just be unresponsive in general and I will have to wait a good 5 minutes before I can use it again... This is in Safari mostly. Should I call Apple or what?
