Hi all,

Just got my first MacBook Pro a week ago, but Mac savvy(ish) as I work on a Mac Pro and have owned Macs before (Classic back in 84, the first PowerBook, a PowerMac 8400). Very happy with it so far apart from the following issue - if it's actually a problem...

Scanning through the posts and searching about batteries, it looks like the MBP shouldn't be charging the battery until it's below 95% so that it's not constantly charging/discharging unnecessarily.

Problem is that mine's charging once it gets below 98% whilst plugged in. It shouldn't be doing this should it?

I'll mostly be using my MBP like a desktop machine but want to keep the battery condition good for when I take it out and about. I was intending to leave it plugged-in apart from weekly full discharge/recharge to keep it calibrated.

I'm finding that for example after playing 5 mins or more of (not HD) video with the power plugged in, battery goes below 98% on the status bar and I find that it's charging again.

Q - Any ideas of how I can stop it charging until it drops below 95%?

Q - Is something defective with this battery?

Btw - I've got coconutBattery installed and running and after 3hrs of light battery use after calibration, I'm at 98% as the max capacity after 3 cycles.

Thanks in advance for your help.
