Hi all,
I'm totally stuck here.
Didn't use my mid 2010 MBP (i7, 2.66 15", Mavericks) for 1 month while I was travelling and coming home it just wouldn't start up. Battery stayed almost full during these 4 weeks of not using it. It gets powered up, but doesn't boot. Fans start, but no chime and screen stays black, the front light goes on (first fully for 1 second, then dim). USB ports give power: i connected a Superdrive to try to boot it from an OSX-DVD.
And then after 25 seconds it just turns off.
Different behaviour with a MagSafe (the correct 85Watt) connected:
when I connect the MagSafe it automatically starts up without me pushing the power button. After trying for 25 seconds the MBP turns itself off and restarts. Endless loop like this.
I tried booting without the RAM, which gave me the expected beeps. Tried with the 2 RAM modules separately and switching them in the slots, no solution. -> RAM = ok?
I tried with resetting SMC and PRAM, but didn't cure it.
Booting without the HD doesn't work: then it doesn't even want to begin turning on.
Can't startup into safe mode of get a hardware test, because it doesn't seem to get far enough in the startup process.
I'm at the point where I'm thinking about baking my logic board. Not very enthousiastic about this, but don't want to pay 800 for a new logicboard and I get the impression that Apple Service Centres replace the LB when it might be one of the solderings...
Any suggestions before these drastic measures, PLEASE?
Thanks
