hi there folks,

my dad is having a couple of issues with his 2.16 c2d MBP and its superdrive. The only thing he uses the drive for is ripping cds into itunes. he maybe does 10 a day (20 max). recently the drive had been chucking discs out at him straight after he puts the in. sometimes in itunes an import will hang. this has started happening in the last couple of weeks.

i was wondering if these were signs that the drive is on its way out or something else. is it possible to clean the drive and could this sort out these problems?

i've looked around and it seems that a replacement drive would cost about $200. is this the cheapest i'm gonna find one for?

thanks for your help in advance

Lucas

ps. the cds are all shop bought without scratches.
