my superdrive is just really loud. after i start playing music, CDs keep spinning like crazy, and it can be heard over the music 20 feet away. all the other drives i've used spin down to an acceptable level when playing music. only spinning up initially. it sounds like i'm burning a CD or something. is it defective, or is it supposed to do that?

tried different cd's? maybe this one is unbalanced? it should not be so loud all the time.

It is possible something is a little off balance in your drive. If the drive is working fine now, then its not really a huge issue. Next time you are going to drive past an Apple store, just stop in for a second and have them take a look.. err.. listen. =)

so its not supposed to spin like that ? does it need to be replaced?
