Hello all,

My 2017 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, 3.1 GHZ i5 and Iris Plus 650 graphics always gets extremely hot while playing games. Even the old, not-so-graphics-intensive games like Need For Speed (ex. Most Wanted) get my machine into a very hot state and the fans run like crazy. Another example is League of Legends. No matter if I set the graphics to Extra Low or Extra High, the FPS will remain around 80, computer remain extremely hot and fans will work at the very maximum.
Is this an issue with Iris Plus graphics card in the machine or is it the software? Thank you for your help.

Its normal. It doesn't really matter what you set your graphics to, most games will try to draw as quickly as they can. So at lower quality you might have higher FPS, but GPU utilisation will e more or less the same.

MacBooks aren’t designed for gaming therefore their cooling system is not designed to handle those stress levels. Consequently they will get extremely hot

Keep in mind the Iris shares the same housing as the CPU so the heat density when both CPU and GPU are working hard is much greater than the heat density of a dGPU and CPU. Consequently, the fans work much harder and louder
