MBP Thunderbolt-HDMI for ripped 3d blu-rays?

I have an early 15" 2.2 2011 MBP.

I want to play ripped 3d blu-rays from my Macbook Pro into my 42" Vizio 3D LCD TV.

Since there is no HDMI output on the MBPs, the only option I can see is using thunderbolt (i.e. high bandwidth) to HDMI.

Is this possible? Is there a better way?
