I'm thinking of getting an external keyboard just because the left area of my MBP keyboard gets too hot to type comfortably. Have any of you had these issues? Here my temps on istat, is this normal or what?

The temps you are reporting aren't high at all... Idle temps are only slightly lower (usually idle CPU is around low to mid 50s) than what you are posting. If those temps truly are too "hot" for you, then you won't like typing much more when you have the CPU/GPU under load and are experiencing temps of 75-81* C or higher.
