MBP -Trippy when CD is insterted?

Whenever I instert a CD into my MBP, some fan or something starts and it vibrates the whole computer. It also makes tons of odd noises, which seem very unusual. It did recognize the CD, but I quickly removed it, because I thought something was wrong when I inserted the CD.

Is this normal?

That's not normal. Your CD is probably off-balance. The sound you hear is the sound of the CD spinning up, not a fan. Try a different CD.
