MBP USB port problem

My early 09 MBP just started having trouble with the USB port closest to the audio in/out. That port powers on my USB gadget, but it doesn't work. i.e. my mighty mouses laser turns on, but doesn't work. Anyone else having trouble with this? Or any solutions?

I have read other people online having this same problem. It seems to be how the two usb ports are routed within the computer. It seems that the second one doesn't get enough power from the 4 way power source so only one works.

I think I'm just going to take it into the apple store and see what a genius can do with it.

im having the same issue but the one closer to the audio in/out is fine

No, I'm just banking that the genius can fix it.

It is a really frustrating problem since I can't backup before I take my MBP to the apple store!

You rebooted it right?

Youd be shocked at how many computer problems can be solved by a simple reboot.

i did actually just reboot my computer and it's working fine now
if you haven't, i definitely reccomend you to try that.

1 Restart and 1 full shutdown no luck for me. Hopefully the geniuses will be able to help me today.
